An analysis of the adoption of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Services Automation (RAISA) for sustainable operations by the hotel sector in Ireland

Researcher: Neeta Israni
Supervisors: Dr James Hanrahan and Dr Conor McTiernan
The use of innovative technologies like Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Services Automation (RAISA) for hotel operations may significantly contribute to sustainability transition and the realization of circular hotels. This study aims to determine the current level of adoption of RAISA by the hotel sector in Ireland. Furthermore, it aims to analyse the factors that are perceived as enablers/barriers to the adoption of RAISA by the owners/managers/employees of hotels in Ireland. Besides adding to the existing literature base and providing a better understanding of an under-studied area of tourism research, the findings of this first nationwide baseline study may make valuable contributions to the knowledge of policy makers, technology providers, and governmental organizations about how they may support the adoption of RAISA for eco-friendly sustainable hotel operations.
